The TLA Values

The TLA Values

Our Values at The Learn Academy

At The Learn Academy, our values are the foundation of everything we do. We believe that education is not only about academic achievement but also about developing global citizens who embody respect, compassion, community spirit, determination, leadership, and curiosity. Our students are encouraged to thrive both intellectually and personally, becoming confident, thoughtful, and conscientious global citizens.

Respect

A TLA student belongs to a community that embraces diversity and inclusivity. They are grounded in the principles of treating others with dignity and take action to treat everyone equally without discrimination against their race, religion, gender or sexuality. They foster an environment of mutual understanding, cooperation and positive interaction where they value others´ opinions and treat individuals with trust and openness. They promote open and honest communication where people can express their thoughts and feelings without fear of judgement or ridicule but instead feel valued and appreciated. They lead by example through demonstrating fairness, integrity and consideration. They envision a world where everyone is treated fairly and justly.

Compassion

A TLA student demonstrates kindness and empathy towards those around them. They embody the ability to empathise with others and they are motivated by their desire to help others and inspire meaningful action. They foster deep connections among individuals with genuine interest to understand others feelings and perspectives. They acknowledge the shared human experience and foster an environment of inclusivity and support. They create a ripple effect that creates an environment that fosters a culture of kindness, cooperation and harmony. They envision a world where compassion can bridge divides and reduce conflicts, and  the  advocation of peaceful resolutions to create a just and peaceful world.

Community

School:
Within the school community, students are celebrated for their achievements in assemblies through awards and certificates that align with TLA values, fostering a culture of recognition and encouragement. Peer support is central to our ethos; students often buddy up to share skills and help each other in their learning journey, promoting a kind, supportive and inclusive environment. Strong communication between staff, students, and parents ensures positive collaboration, while initiatives like the Parent Association provide opportunities for parents to connect with one another and actively engage in the school community and their child’s education.

Local:
TLA students actively engage with the local community, taking the initiative to identify and challenge social issues through critical thinking and problem-solving skills. By developing community-driven projects, they embrace civic responsibility and work to address local needs. Students build networks of relationships and social ties that foster shared values, traditions, and purpose within their immediate surroundings.

Global:
On a global scale, TLA students exhibit a deep understanding and appreciation of diverse cultures, fostering empathy and respect for people from all backgrounds. Through international collaborations and initiatives, including cultural exchanges and our Global Citizenship Project, they develop a global outlook and advocate for solidarity in the face of economic, social, and political challenges. By embracing global collaboration, they contribute positively to an interconnected world and envision a future enriched by shared cultural and social experiences.

Determination

A TLA student is focused on ensuring a balance in all areas of their life, encompassing intellectual, physical, and emotional needs. They maintain focus and motivation, enabling them to work consistently toward their objectives and goals. With effective time management and clear communication from teachers, they prioritise tasks and adhere to deadlines, fostering responsibility and productivity.

TLA students build character through values of perseverance, resilience, and accountability, navigating challenges and setbacks with determination and a positive mindset. They are encouraged to have the confidence to ask for help when needed, with the understanding that seeking support is a strength. At TLA, students are reinforced with the message that asking for guidance is a proactive step toward success. Through healthy habits and a commitment to self-improvement, they strive to achieve their personal goals in both the short and long term. They envision a world where individuals lead balanced lives, integrating a strong work ethic, mental well-being, and meaningful relationships.

Leadership

A TLA student encompasses the ability to guide, inspire and influence others towards achieving a common goal. They drive innovation and foster a positive culture to ensure there is collaboration within a team. They are able to articulate a clear vision and set a positive example for others to follow. They instill a sense of purpose and direction to encourage others to strive for excellence and to reach their full potential. They embrace change and adapt to challenges with a calm, decisive and forward-thinking manner. They recognise individual strengths and encourage creativity and new ideas with an open minded approach. They uphold a moral ethical code with clear expectations and boundaries. They envision a world where people are empowered to pursue innovations , who advocate for the common good and uphold integrity.

Curiosity

A TLA student fundamentally perceives the world through a curious lens. They are individuals who explore, experiment, and challenge the status quo by thinking creatively outside of the box. Instilled within them, they have a thirst for knowledge by asking questions and actively listening to answers. They have curious minds that are inquisitive about the world both within and beyond the classroom which develops them into becoming lifelong learners. They foster an environment of thinkers and doers, who inspire others to explore and seek answers for themselves by inspiring trust and encouraging open dialogues. Their use of language becomes a tool to share information across cultures through cultural exchange so that they may enhance their understanding from different perspectives. They envision a world where it is encouraged for people to think differently, combine diverse ideas and develop unique solutions.
